By What is the Share Market - On May 20th, 2012 No Comments

You know how vital the role of a database is in the running of a business. And database software is what defines the functioning of a database. The behavior of the database is controlled by the software it uses. Hence database application designing plays a good part in deciding how your data and information are stored, how the same are retrieved, or how the queries are run. Several companies around the world cater to the requirement for database systems design and development. And an ever increasing request from global clients pertains to development of web databases.

This is quite natural as the requirements for such solutions are felt increasingly as many businesses go online. In fact, the cyber world is turning out to be market with unlimited opportunities. And it offers a place for all types of businesses.

And it has also become imperative for all organizations to maintain online presence. And amidst all these developments, the requirement for web database system development is becoming paramount.

A web database solution enables simultaneous access to an organization’s database from any part of the world via its website provided the remote users have access to internet. And such sharing of information is quite vital for multinational organizations which have business set-ups in different part of the world. A remote user can have instant access to all information stored in the central database thereby increasing the smoothness and efficiency of business operations. And with instant access to data possible, an opportunity is also opened for collaborative functioning between or among different workgroups. Remote users accessing a database over a web network can also store data, run complex queries and analyze the data simultaneously. And the nature of the database solution design depends on the storage capacity of the database and the number of simultaneous users it is expected to support.

Online Stock Trading- Another Historic Chapter of the London Stock Exchange

By What is the Share Market - On May 19th, 2012 No Comments

The London Stock Exchange is the fourth largest exchange on the planet, boasting just shy of 4 trillion US in December of 2011 and in the UK, it is the big boy on the block. The LSE has seen a lot of history in its time since 1571 when it was opened by Queen Elizabeth I and founded by Thomas Gresham. It is quite a thrill when you make your first trade on this exchange, even if you are doing your share trading online. Just knowing that you began trading in the LSE makes online stock trading more exciting than skydiving.

Trading Over a Hot Cup of Coffee What made the opening of the London Stock Exchange peculiar was the actions and pompous behaviour by the stockbrokers. Neither the Queen, nor Gresham was fond of rude people so they banned them from the building.

They did not; however, ban them from trading. Thus, the Coffee House has historic ties to the exchange. The brokers were forced to trade from businesses as close to the LSE as they could get. What better place to trade stocks than at Jonathan’s coffee House just a block or so away from the building?

Race against the Dark After a rocky start, during which the commodities list and the famous public auctions by inch of candle were born, real progress towards our more modern approach to stock brokering was underway. The famous term, by inch of candle came about because back then, trading hours were gauged by how long it took to burn a tallow candle. Rather than watching the big clock of today, the auctioneers would watch the candle diminish, with activity coming to a fevered pitch as the candle began to sputter out.

Let the Good Times Roll The daily commodities list of today began as John Casting, a simple Coffee House stock broker began to keep track of his broking business by listing the few commodities he traded, like paper, coal, or salt. He would post his list a couple of times weekly. This idea took root when Casting moved to his new brokerage location… Garraway’s Coffee House! Companies began to prosper and their stocks were becoming much more valuable. More companies joined in and the Queen and her royal court began to raise capital for the exchange as well.

Fate Strikes a Match The London Stock Exchange attracted a classier brokering clientele than when it first began and the market was such a success that one of the greatest tragedies of that era could not make the exchange go away for very long. In 1666, the Great Fire of London burned most of the city to the ground, including the London Stock Exchange. For more than three days, the tragic inferno raged throughout the city, consuming 13,000 houses and almost 90 parish churches, including St Paul’s Cathedral. Of the 80,000 citizens of London, 70,000 were homeless within that 3-day period.

Become a Part of History The London Stock Exchange was rebuilt in 1669 and has become the powerhouse that it is today. As you enjoy your online stock trading through the LSE, realize that you are now a part of this historic institution. The fact that you are able to perform share trading online is just another wonderful chapter of the London Stock Exchange and its fascinating journey.

Investing in the Gold Market

By What is the Share Market - On May 19th, 2012 No Comments

Recently, the gold market has continued to find new record levels on a regular basis, nevertheless, for the time being, the market appears to be struggling.

We have seen many pull backs of this nature in the past, however the metal has eventually continued on its rise. The gold bull run is now into its ninth year. Trying to call an end to the metal’s relentless rise has been a fruitless task for a very long time indeed.

However, it must be remembered that back in 2008 the gold market fell almost 30% from its highs before recovering, so reversals can be very nasty indeed.

If you’re your looking to invest in the gold market, one opportunity that is certainly worth considering is spread betting. This form of investment offers a range of benefits over other forms of trading such as the speed at which you can trade, the number of markets available and, quite simply, the ease at which you can open and close trades.

As with any other form of investment, however, such as buying a house, trading stocks or simply having a pension, spread betting does have a negative side.

If you spread bet, you can actually lose more than you initially invested. So why would you consider it as part of your trading and investment strategy?

Spread betting may not be the be-all-and-end-all of trading, but it has a number of advantages. For a start, spread betting offers a solution that covers tax free* trading and quick access to global markets.

The reason why spread betting is tax free is because you are not actually buying or selling any assets, nor are you buying or selling the rights to any stocks or shares. You are purely speculating on the future value of a financial market. As a result, spread bets are not subject to capital gains, stamp duty or income tax*.

Furthermore, the quick access to thousands of worldwide financial markets is a key feature. You can speculate on gold but you can also trade the level of a stock market like the DAX 30 or FTSE 100, foreign exchange markets such as the Euro/Yen pair, and, naturally, you can spread bet on shares. You can even speculate on the price of commodities such as Sugar and Platinum.

Also, unlike traditional share trading, you can sell a market; financial spread betting lets you trade in both directions. If your research leads you to think that the price of gold will decrease, you can speculate on it to go down. If you think that the price of the yellow metal will increase, you can spread bet on it to go up.

Financially, as discussed, investing does have its risks. Nevertheless, there are things you can do in order to reduce the potential drawbacks. Adding a Guaranteed Stop Loss Order to your spread bet helps to reduce your risks. If you start to lose on a trade, and the market reaches your pre-determined Stop Loss level, then your order will close the trade and you won’t lose any more capital.

So, whilst there are many positives, you must also understand the potential disadvantages. Financial spread betting carries a high level of risk so you should only speculate with money you can afford to lose.

It is important that, before trading, you ensure that spread betting matches your investment needs, you should familiarise yourself with the risks involved and, where necessary, seek independent advice.

Bangladesh suspended trading at its main stock exchange in the capital Dhaka on Monday, and security officials used batons to disperse thousands of angry investors upset over a market plunge. After the protesters began gathering on Monday morning, authorities used batons to try to break up the crowds, according to police officials. But protesters continued to demonstrate at several busy intersections in Dhaka’s Motijheel commercial district, where the stock exchange is located, smashing vehicles, burning tyres and chanting anti-government slogans.
